HUMOR

I Remember!

When three-year-old opened the birthday gift from his grandmother, he discovered a water pistol. He squealed with delight and headed for the
nearest sink.

The Mother was not so pleased. She turned to grandma and said, "I'm surprised at you. Don't you remember how we used to drive you crazy
with water guns?"

Grandma smiled and then replied knowingly..."I remember."

THOUGHT PROVOKING – INSPIRATIONAL

TWO WOLVES

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

"One is Evil - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other is Good - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

PRAY WITHOUT CEASING

I am blessed because before my husband passed away, he “recorded” on a cassette his voice saying the rosary. Each morning the “first thing I do” is to say a rosary with him while having my coffee in my sitting room. I look forward to starting my day this way each day….

There are many prayers in addition to this rosary that I would like to say, but do not always have the time. I realized that I could read these prayers out loud and record them.

I invested in two more cassette players that also enable you to record and bought some blank tapes.

I now have a cassette player in my kitchen, my bedroom, and my sitting room. I recorded special prayers on separate cassette tapes.

  • I play the bedroom cassette while making my bed and while dressing in the morning.

  • I play the kitchen cassette while sorting laundry (my washer is in my kitchen), washing my dishes, and other kitchen chores.

  • I play my sitting room cassette not only for the rosary mentioned above, but also for prayers I say while “exercising” on a mat on the floor. (I have arthritis in my shoulders, and “must” exercise my arms each day.)

I am not actually “praying without ceasing” however I am saying many more prayers each day than I used to say for lack of time. I feel as though now I can accomplish my chores while also praying for special intentions.

My son gave me cassette tapes of the Bible. He no longer uses cassettes (they are “old fashioned”) and he transferred the cassette tapes of the Bible onto his computer. I can play these Bible cassettes on my cassette player “at random” (no set pattern) while doing other chores during the day about my house.

When I consolidate prayer with chores, I hardly realize I am working. And prayer keeps our minds busy so we do not tend to become depressed or lonesome. I thank God I discovered this way to spend more time with Jesus. It is special to know that my deceased husband led me to this method.

Because I found peace through prayer, I wanted to share this idea with others.
