THOUGHT PROVOKING – INSPIRATIONAL

PART OF THE CHOIR

When I was a boy our church didn’t have a choir so everyone was expected to sing. That didn’t bother me since I was an enthusiastic singer to say the least. Still, my talent didn’t quite match my zest for singing. More often than not I was too loud and off key. Many times my singing would get me a nudge and a look from my older brother. In time, though, I learned to sing more softly and found that even my less than perfect voice blended in beautifully with the choir of joyous singers that was our church.

As I grew up too I found many other ways to sing my soul’s song without using my throat’s voice. One way was by putting a pen to paper and later my fingers to a keyboard. In this way I was able to share the inspiring thoughts, words, and experiences that my Heavenly Father so often gave me. In this way I was able to encourage others as well to choose love, share joy, and grow in oneness with God even as I learned to do so more and more in my own life.

As the years have gone by too I have realized something. I am only one voice in millions out there writing, speaking, and singing out the beautiful truth for all the world to hear. I often see the others online, in newspapers, on television, in books, and even on the street. Some have become rich and famous for the work they have done, but most like me are just delighting in freely sharing the wisdom, joy, love, and light that God has given them.

Now I find myself happy to be a part of a new choir that is doing all it can to bring the glorious music of love to this world. I hope that you will join it as well. You may be just one voice among many, but if you share your soul’s song you can add so much to the choir. It doesn’t matter either if your voice or life is less than perfect. If you sing your song and live your life with love, you can help to make the Earth sound a lot more like Heaven.

The Light, The Air, and the Door

While driving through the winding roads of Louisiana there was a light rain and the blacktop was a little slick. Sandy suddenly lost control of her car. The car was headed straight toward the bayou. It happened so fast she couldn't move quickly enough to escape from the sinking automobile.

It was too dark for her to see clearly, but there was a small light coming from the glove compartment which was now the highest point of the car. Quickly, she made her way to the light. Surrounding the light was a small pocket of air. She drew a deep breath and began making one trip after another from the air pocket to the door handle and then back again for more air. The light that showed her the way and the air she was drawing into her lungs made survival possible. Then, after what seemed like hours, she finally managed to get the door open and swim to safety.

Sandy's story is much like life. Are you experiencing a time of personal crisis or hurting because of chronic difficult circumstances in your life? You may even be living in quiet desperation. If this is where you are today I want to tell you, as a result of my own desperate searching, that there is reality behind the picture here of the light, the air, the door and the escape.

The light, even if it appears small to you right now, is enough to point you in the right direction. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world."

The pocket of air near the light is a secret hiding place where you can come to Him and cast your cares on Him. In this secret place, as you meditate in His word and talk to Him in prayer, it will be life to you as the precious air was to Sandy. As you continue to do this, He will continue to give you His peace and whether the circumstances change or not, the One who loves you unconditionally will wrap you up in His arms and bring healing and comfort your heart.

The door is both of these. It is the way out of your old life and into the new one God has for you. Jesus said, "I am the door."

The escape is when you actually take that step of faith and turn from your old life and into the new, receiving by faith God's offer of salvation by grace. "If any man is in Christ He is a new creature. Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new."

The provision is there for you, whether you take it is your choice.
