HUMOR

All I Need to Know about Life I learned from

the Easter Bunny!

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Walk softly and carry a big carrot.

Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.

There's no such thing as too much candy.

All work and no play can make you a basket case.

Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.

Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.

Keep your paws off other people's jellybeans.

Good things come in small sugarcoated packages.

The grass is greener in someone else's basket.

An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare.

To show your true colors you have to come out of the shell.

THOUGHT PROVOKING – INSPIRATIONAL

Certainly you must be discovering that cell phones have taken over so many lives. People are no longer the priority or even close to being in control - cell phones are! They ring in restaurants, movie theaters, and during church services and important meetings - everywhere and at anytime. To make things worse, people don't care where they are - they answer the phones and carry on conversations while standing in line at the grocery store, even interrupting regular conversations with "real" people - well, you know!

Adults and our youth are quickly losing social skills we because we communicate mostly by "texting" - sometimes across many miles, but much more commonly much closer - just across the room, in the classroom, and, yes, even during church services.

Thus, the following article.

The Phone Booth

"As you probably know the Amish believe in living a simple life - no electricity, no telephones, no motorized vehicles. Yet in many of their communities there is a pay phone.

When asked about this apparent discrepancy one elder explained, 'If the telephone were in our home it would control us. As long as it is out here we control it.' He went on to say, 'Most people drop everything they are doing the instant the telephone rings and run to answer it.

In their lives the telephone takes precedent over everything. (Of course cell phones have only made this addiction far worse.) The pay telephone, on the other hand, is our servant. It is there if we need it but we do not allow it to intrude into our lives.'"

I learned of new controls that can be placed on cell phones. The phones can be programmed to "sleep" for specific periods. You can purchase cell phones with built-in GPS that will reflect the location of the phone at all times. Parents can always see where their children are located.

Better yet, the user can always "choose" to place their cell phone on silent or just simply turn it off. God allows us to make choices - turning off the cell phone is clearly a "choice"!

Here's some eye-opening news - our children learn from us - parents. Guess what do they see us doing? Who really is in control?

Sometimes I think that God must have a great sense of humor.  Someone once observed that we could prove this by looking at the giraffe.  Why would such a strange-looking creature be made, except for our enjoyment?

God also loves the game, “What Goes Around, Comes Around.”  Of course, He probably calls it something else----maybe “Give, and It Shall be Given to You.”   Whatever the name, the results are awesome.

Eduardo Sierra, 35, is a businessman from Spain, who was sent to Stockholm, Sweden, on a business trip.  He was a devout Christian, and made it a point to stop into various churches when he could, and pray for his family and friends, and even people he didn’t know.  The trip was ordinary, everything went well, and on his last day, Eduardo checked out of his hotel and looked for a cab to the airport.  Then he noticed an old church about two blocks down the avenue, and realized that he had not visited any churches on this trip.  He probably had time for a quick prayer, he told himself, and walked down to the building.

It was open, but there was no one inside.  Instead, Eduardo noticed that there was a closed coffin, and a condolence book at a small shrine.  A note lay on the book:  “Those who have prayed for this soul, Jens Svenson, shall please enter their name and address.”  Eduardo looked at the first page.  It was blank.  No one had yet arrived to send Mr. Svenson off to heaven, and that made Eduardo sad.  He would stay as long as he could, he decided, and he prayed for Mr. Svenson for a half hour.  It was a bit difficult, since he knew nothing about the man, but prayer is never wasted,  Eduardo believed.  And when it was time to go, he remembered to sign his name and address, just as Mr. Svenson had asked.  The church was still empty.

Several weeks later, Eduardo answered the phone.  It was a representative from the Swedish capitol, informing him that he had just inherited several million dollars.  At first, Eduardo suspected a wrong number, but when the lawyer finally convinced him that it was all true, Eduardo was almost speechless.  “How can this be?” he asked.

You prayed for a man in Sweden, Jens Svenson.”  Eduardo could hardly remember---it was so insignificant to him.  “Mr. Svenson was a wealthy real estate dealer with no close relatives,” the lawyer went on.  “He specified in his will that whoever prayed for his soul, would receive all his belongings.”

But….” Eduardo protested, “many people must have prayed for him.”

No,” the lawyer explained.  “Your address was the only one in the book.”

What goes around comes around?
